About This Wine
The Scharzhof Riesling is designated Qba by Muller himself, though technically this wine qualifies for the higher 'Kabinett' designation. This wine comes from grapes destined for the Wiltinger Braune Kupp bottling of Egon Muller and you'd be hard pressed to find another Qualitats Riesling out there that would beat this one in quality. This wine offers a glorious Riesling experience and a very clear introduction to Egon Muller's prowess.
This is THE producer of the Saar, the right tributary of the Mosel in Germany. Muller is renowned for ultimate intensity/delicacy balance and this historic estate harnesses the regions classic cooling influence of the river along with some dizzying vineyard slate slopes that retain precious sun rays. Egon Muller possesses an enviable 8 hectares of vines within the famous Scharzhofberg vineyard (3 of which are ungrafted) as well as dual Wiltinger sites (Braune and Kupp). Muller's wines are guaranteed to give you a peak Riesling experience.
