About This Wine
The 2018 harvest for Faiveley began with Chardonnay from this region in late August. Hand picked and hand sorted before being pressed. for just over half of the must, fermentation took place in French oak barrels, of which 25% were new. The whole maturation process lasted for 16 months, with regular stirring to build texture. The result is a floral perfume, slight spice and vivacious acidity.
Domaine Faiveley offers outstanding value at every level of Burgundy, a feat barely attempted and certainly not achieved by many others. Their then insane move in 1930s of buying extensively in Mercurey within the Cote Chalonnaise has paid off. This wine offers incredible value and insight into white Burgundies. From a domaine that was in the past more focused on extraction and tannins, we are now met with a marriage of past and present in their current philosophy of fruit intensity and freshness. The result is harmonious, no Burgundy tasting is complete without a Faiveley in the mix.
