About This Wine

From the Sondraie vineyard of the Poggio Al Tesoro estate. This west facing vineyard has deep sand gravel and clays and is surprisingly cool climate, especially the 2020 vintage with a couple nights dropping below zero as harvest loomed. Harvested at night before a gentle pressing of whole grapes. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees with some bottle aging before release.

Reviews;

White flowers, lemon zest, fresh pears and honeydew melon on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and smooth, delicious layers of flowers and fruit.
Excellent concentration and freshness. 92 Points, James Suckling

When the famed Allegrini family of Veneto set their sights on the highly regarded terroir of Bolgheri in 2001, Poggio al Tesoro was born.
Their Bolgheri estate contains unique qualities that form an exceptional terroir. The winters are mild and summers last through until October. Constant breezes cool the air during the hotter months and promote the health of the grapes, while the long, sunny days influence the structure of the wines. Another important factor that makes this territory unique is the light, which is strong and sharp throughout the entire year: the reflection of the sun on the surface of the sea is, in fact, the secret behind the phenolic ripening of the grapes in Bolgheri.
Produced from some 64 hectares (160 acres) of carefully and meticulously tended vineyards, the wines from this estate combine strength and elegance. They are intense, deeply textured and brimming with aromas and flavours with predominant, satisfying fruitiness and silky tannins.
