Somos Tintito 2020

AT FIRST SIP-Ripe red fruits, tar and anise. Savoury green herbs mingle around a smattering of charcoaled blue fruits. Just enough tannins to bring it all together, medium bodied as easy drinking as intended. AFTER A FEW-Like the bbq sauce over your fancy snags.

An intriguing blend of 26% Grenache, 24% Pinot Meunier, 17% Nero d’Avola, 14% Trincadeira, 10% Mataro, 9% Parraleta from multiple regions. It is a collection of small parcels with different winemaking techniques.

“Somos, meaning ‘we are’ in Spanish, is the brainchild of two winemakers: Mauricio Ruiz Cantú and Benjamin Caldwell. They represent new McLaren Vale, as expressed through a kaleidoscope of alternative varieties, styles and intriguing favours. The pair work primarily with less-known Italian and Spanish varieties, and they make them in entirely unconventional ways, with a lo-fi and sustainable ethos."-Somos.

One of our favourite Australian producers, we haven't had a wine from Somos that we haven't slurped down very quickly. Each wine oozes value, flavour and deliciousness.

Somos, means 'we are; in Spanish and is the culmination of Mauricio Ruiz Cantú and Benjamin Caldwell. Based in the McLaren Vale, they are well on their own path, eschewing the regions 'typical' grapes and wine styles. Instead, the pair focus on less known Italian and Spanish varieties, delivering these in innovative, lo-fi and sustainable ways.
