Yeringberg Pinot Noir 2019

"This has aromas of fresh red cherries and raspberries, as well as a gently spicy and modern reductive edge that holds freshness and complexity. The palate is a sleek and fine-boned affair with bright strawberries and red cherries, set in plush, supple tannins that carry fresh red and darker-cherry flavours long. Impressive. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

From vines planted 1969-1974. 35% new oak. No fining or filtration. Autumnal, savoury and kind of amaro-laced. I’m thinking poached strawberry, cherry, spice and cedar, with a distinct sappy/sour blood orange tang, fine-grained but firm tannin, and a fresh red-fruited finish of good length. Plenty of character. I like it."
"There’s more volume this vintage, yet it still retains the Yeringberg touch of elegance. Ripe plums and cherries, all sweet and tangy with blood orange, bitter herbs and woodsy spices. Fuller bodied with ripe tannins and good drinking now."
