Sourced from Tamar Valley in Tasmania, winemaker Ben Riggs knew he would have to find some stellar vineyards to satisfy Ricky Ponting's love for Tassie wines and Tamar Valley, near where he grew up. This Chardonnay was sourced from a cool south facing vineyard, influenced by the Southern Ocean.
Picked relatively early to retain natural acidity, the wine was whole bunch pressed and allowed to ferment naturally with wild yeast. The wine was then sent straight to barrel with a small percentage kept in new oak. No sulphur was added so as to allow malolactic fermentation to occur and the wine was left on lees for 6 months.
