About This Wine

Sangiovese is certainly becoming the Canberra region's specialty. The proof is in Ravensworth's regional Sangiovese, an excellent introduction to the region's affinity with the grape.

Sourced from 6 vineyards in Murrumbateman, Young and Harden. Soils comprising of decomposed granite, and red loamy clay. 

Using whole berries only, this wine enjoyed a natural fermentation for 3 weeks in open top oak vats. Further maturation took place in old oak for 6 months. Bottled unfined unfiltered.

Winemaker Bryan Martin began Ranvensworth with partner Jocelyn and brother David in 2001. After a career as a chef, restaurant critic and food writer he gained experience at local Canberra wine powerhouse; Clonakilla. 
Bryan's range of wines are brilliant classics and classics to be. Deliberately unconventional and exciting at every sip, the range includes a now must-have Sangiovese, white Rhone varieties as well as Nebbiolo and Gamay. Everything grown on the estate adheres to organic principals. 
The 2020 vintage , following devastating wild fires in the area lead to the 'Long War Round' series where Bryan sources new varieties to the range from friends further afield across Australia. 
If you're a cool climate wine fan, Ravensworth is an absolute must.
